عن الرواية : ” الغداء العاري ” / وليام بوروز. لغرابتها، احتار النقاد في تصنيف «الغداء العاري» التي اعتبرت بمثابة صرخة من الجحيم، وحشية مرعبة، ومضحكة في آن لكونها تتأرجح بين الهلوسات غير المنضبطة والشرسة، والتهكم على واقع الإدمان المزري عبر السخرية السوداء. بعضهم اختصر الرواية بكونها «مذكرات مدمن هيرويين»، باعتبار الكاتب مدمن مخدرات لخمسة عشر عاماً. كان بوروز يدرك تماماً ما يتحدث عنه، بعضهم شبّهه بالمراسل الحربي لأنه عايش الخطر وكتب عنه بدقة. بطل الرواية ويليام لي، وهو يعكس شخصية الكاتب نفسه، يعيش في دائرة من الإدمان، الهاجس الجنسي، والانحطاط الأخلاقي. أما السعي اليائس للحصول على الهيروين فهو مجرد استعارة أو ستارة لمختلف أصناف الإدمان، كالإدمان الجنسي الذي بلغ حد المثلية، وإدمان التفوق الاجتماعي المتمثل بجنون العظمة والشهرة، والإدمان السياسي على السلطة. في روايته، تتداخل الشخصيات في ما بينها، تتماهى، تظهر فجأة وتختفي كلياً من دون مبررات. المهم أن الجميع أشرار، مجانين ومهووسون، يقتلون ، يتعاطون الهيروين أو أي نوع متوافر من المخدرات. الشرطي يقتل المتهم لأنه يقرر من تلقاء نفسه أنه مذنب، الطبيب المدمن يتخلص من مرضاه ويصرخ على مساعدته التي صودف أنها قردة مدربة، الجيش يقوم بتجارب بيولوجية غامضة تنتج مخلوقات غريبة يستخدمها بوروز لاحقاً في مشاهد إباحية. وأمام هذه الفوضى الأدبية والهلوسات التهويمية يمكن تلمّس الأعذار للقراء الذين اعترفوا بأنهم وجدوا هذه الرواية عصية على الفهم، أو أنهم ببساطة توقفوا عن قراءتها لشعورهم بالغثيان

About The Novel : “Naked Lunch” / William Burrows. For its strangeness, critics were puzzled by the classification of “naked lunch”, which was considered a cry from hell, a terrifying brutality, and funny at the same time because it oscillates between uncontrolled and fierce hallucinations, and the mockery of the miserable reality of addiction through black satire. Some of them reduced the novel to being a “diary of a heroin addict”, considering the writer a drug addict for fifteen years. Burrows was fully aware of what he was talking about, some likened him to a war reporter because he had lived through the danger and had written about it so meticulously. Reflecting the writer himself, protagonist William Lee lives in a cycle of addiction, sexual obsession, and moral decline. The desperate pursuit of heroin is merely a metaphor for various types of addictions, such as sexual addiction that has reached the point of homosexuality, addiction to social superiority represented by megalia and fame, and political addiction to power. In his novel, the characters intertwine, identify, appear suddenly and disappear completely, without justification. The important thing is that everyone is evil, crazy and obsessed. They kill, use heroin or any kind of drugs available. The policeman kills the accused because he automatically decides that he is guilty, the addicted doctor gets rid of his patients and screams for his help, which happens to be a trained monkey, the army conducts mysterious biological experiments that produce strange creatures that Burroughs later use in porn scenes. Faced with this literary chaos and hallucinations, excuses can be sought for the readers who admitted that they found this novel incomprehensible, or that they simply stopped reading it because they felt nauseous

The reader follows the narration of junkie William Lee, who takes on various aliases, from the U.S. to Mexico, eventually to Tangier and the dreamlike Interzone.
