لتجويد في الإصطلاح: هو علم يعرف به النطق الصحيح للحروف العربية، وذلك بمعرفة مخارجها، وصفاتها الذاتية والعرضية، وما ينشأ عنها من أحكام.
وكتاب “التجويد المصور” جعله مؤلفه الدكتور أيمن رشدس سويد في خدمة كتاب الله (القرآن الكريم) شرح فيه أسباب دراسة علم التجويد وأهميتها للقارئ المسلم، فمزج بين علم التجويد القديم وشيءٍ من حقائق علم الأصوات الحديث وفيزياء الأصوات، مستعيناً بالرسوم التوضيحية والبيانية لأعضاء النطق وما يتعلق بها، وموظفاً للألوان في إبراز بعض المسائل التجويدية وتمييزها عن بعض. وزيادة في الفائدة للمدارس والمعاهد القرآنية فقد أرفق المؤلف بالكتاب قرصاً مدمجاً للوحات الكتاب كاملة، إضافة إلى صورٍ متحركة لإيضاح بعض الحقائق الصوتية وإبراز خفايا ما يجري في زوايا الغم عند نطق الحروف يصلح هذا القرص للعرض على الحواسب وأجهزة الإسقاط الجدارية.
أيضاً، وإتماماً للفائدة فقد ألحق المؤلق بأبحاث الكتاب فصلاً عن مراحل تطور كتابة وضبط المصحف الشريف وفصلاً آخر عن حفظ القرآن وما يتعلق به من أمور مهمة.
